Modern cities face the challenges of adapting to the dynamically changing needs of residents, climate change and the evolution of urban space. Jaworzno, together with the Slo Concept design office, presents how an innovative approach to urban planning can benefit the local community and create a space for active recreation.
Skatepark in a new guise: From public consultation to implementation
The project for a skatepark in Jaworzno, implemented in a renovated city park, includes the space of former tennis courts. The key to creating a space that meets the expectations of residents was extensive public consultation. This collaboration allowed us to define the needs of local youth and experienced skateboard, BMX, rollerblading or scooter enthusiasts, resulting in a design that combines innovation and functionality with appeal to a wide range of users.
Jaworzno: An example of harmonious integration of sports space into the urban fabric
The skatepark initiative in Jaworzno demonstrates the importance of integration with green space in urban planning and the creation of multifunctional spaces that promote active recreation and social integration. The project is part of a larger strategy for the city's development, based on the economy, the needs of residents and business, with assumed spending on municipal investments in future years.
A number of investments in Jaworzno are being consulted in various fields: sports, communications, urban planning, land use. An example? The "Jaworzno in discussion" project was inaugurated in November 2021.

New tools in planning: Game for urban space
Jaworzno's innovative approach to urban space planning also includes educational and participatory tools, such as the "Game of Settlement," developed by the Department of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology. This method allows for understanding and involvement of residents in the planning process, demonstrating the importance of reconciling diverse interests: residents, developers, environmentalists and city planners.
Dialogue and cooperation: the key to sustainable development
The skatepark project in Jaworzno and the city's broader development strategy show that success in urban planning is based on dialogue and cooperation between different interest groups. Only by understanding and reconciling different perspectives is it possible to create urban spaces that are at once functional, aesthetically pleasing and responsive to community needs.
