"Wrooklyn Zoo" is a film that thrills the viewer to the rhythm of skateboarding and urban music, taking him straight to the streets of Wroclaw. From the first minutes you can feel the energy of the city, and the world of skateboarding, full of adrenaline and excitement, draws the viewer in completely. This is not just a story about skateboarding - the film depicts the cultural richness of Wroclaw, with a clear reference to the Roma culture, and a story about intergenerational bonding.
One of the strongest elements of the plot is the relationship between the main character and his grandfather. The chemistry between them immediately attracts attention - the grandfather is a real support for the young skater, not only in his personal life, but also in developing his passion for skateboarding. It is this bond that drives the protagonist to overcome his own weaknesses and become a better person.
This relationship becomes the emotional heart of the film, showing the power of family love and intergenerational support, which is often underestimated, and which plays a key role in this story.
"Wrooklyn Zoo" is a film that not only presents a fascination with the world of skateboarding, but also shows the cultural diversity of the city, including the influence of Roma culture. The skateboarding community portrayed in the film integrates different social groups, showing that it is more than a sport - it is a space for everyone, regardless of background, to find their place and support.
Roma culture is woven into the plot as a natural part of Wroclaw folklore, which adds to the film's uniqueness. The Roma, often underestimated and marginalized, are presented in a new light - as an important part of a diverse, urban community, where skateboarding becomes a common point between different cultures.
One of the most important elements of the film are Wroclaw skateparks, which play a key role in the development of the characters. Our spots were also featured in the film, which positively surprised us! On the screen appears the Wroclaw skatepark on Slezna Street, next to Wroclavia, which we had the opportunity to build in 2021. This concrete skatepark is one of the places where the main character polishes his skills and establishes relationships with other skaters.
For us, as Techramps, it is a great honor that the skatepark we built became one of the important points of the film set. The skatepark's design, created with beginners and advanced skaters in mind by the Slo Concept design studio, was immortalized on screen, becoming a place where the characters face life's challenges and develop their skills - well, just mega!
One cannot fail to mention the visual side of the film. Each frame of "Wrooklyn Zoo" is a carefully crafted composition, reflecting the atmosphere of Wroclaw and its skateparks. The juxtaposition of dynamic scenes of skateboarding with picturesque shots of the urban landscape introduces the viewer to a world full of contrasts - from the fast pace of the skatepark, to a moment of reflection on what is really important in life.
The music that accompanies the characters perfectly complements the picture - hip-hop beats, which combine with the sounds of skateboarding on the ramp, build an atmosphere full of energy and youthful freedom.
After watching "Wrooklyn Zoo" we are impressed by how the film combines the world of skateboarding with the emotional depth and cultural diversity of Wroclaw. We were particularly moved by the relationship between the main character and his grandfather - it's a beautiful portrayal of an intergenerational bond that gives the whole story a unique dimension.
We are also happy that our skatepark on Slezna Street was immortalized in this film. Our work on its construction had a real impact on the development of the local skate community, which "Wrooklyn Zoo" shows in a beautiful way. Skateboarding is not just a sport - it's a way of life and self-expression, which the film shows perfectly.
"Wrooklyn Zoo" is a film that takes the viewer on a journey through the world of Wrooklyn skateboarding, tinged with the influence of Roma culture and emotional stories about family relationships. It's a production that combines dynamic action with authentic emotions, and Wroclaw skateparks are not just a backdrop here, but full-fledged characters in the story.
We encourage you to watch this film and to visit the skatepark on Slezna Street - a place that has become an icon of the Wroclaw skateboarding scene and which we had the pleasure of building.
"Wrooklyn Zoo" is in theaters starting October 18.
